Gunners players and coaches agree to 12.5 percent wage cuts to help club out
Arsenal's players and coaches, including Mikel Arteta, have agreed lớn take 12.5% pay cuts lớn help during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Gunners say that some of the money will be paid back lớn players and coaching staff once football returns if certain performances are met on the field.
The move follows on from Southampton and West mê say announcing that their players would be taking wage deferrals lớn help out while the Premier League is suspended during the current pandemic.
Arsenal say they have reached a "voluntary agreement with our first-team players, head coach and core coaching staff lớn help support the club at this critical time" following todays soccer prediction discussions".
"Reductions of total annual earnings by 12.5 per cent will come into effect this month, with the contractual paperwork being completed in the coming days," read an Arsenal statement.
"If we meet specific targets in the seasons ahead, primarily linked to success on the pitch, the club will repay agreed amounts. We will be able lớn make those repayments as hitting these targets, which the players can directly influence, will mean our financial position will be stronger.
"The agreement is based on the assumption we will finish the season 2019/20 and receive the full broadcasting revenues. The resulting savings will help cover some of the financial risks we have this season in relation to our matchday and commercial income.
"We are proud and grateful lớn our players and staff for pulling together to support our club, our people and our community in these unprecedented times which are some of the most challenging we have faced in our history."
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder and chief executive officer Stephen Bettis have also agreed a deferral in wages and relevant bonus payments.
The pair have been joined by senior coaching staff, who have also agreed to the deferrals for the soccer predictions page to assist United "with retaining staff and continuing lớn pay 100 per cent of their salaries during this difficult period".
Elsewhere in football, Manchester Uni Soccer today's forward Marcus Rashford has revealed that his efforts lớn help distribute food to children who would have missed out on free school meals has now raised over £20million.
Rashford teamed up with charity FareShare to help those affected by school closures during the coronavirus pandemic, with some of Britain's biggest supermarkets joining his campaign.
"It's done a lot better than what we thought," he told the United podcast.
"It got lớn the stage where we had a lot of donations, more than we expected, and we were actually struggling to deliver the food to people. I think it's just around £20 million now.
"If this would have happened 10 or 15 years ago, it definitely would have affected myself as a kid in the position I was in. It's just something I thought if there's a way lớn try and help people and kids especially, let's just try and do it."
Gary Neville has made a "significant" donation to Northern Premier League side Brighouse Town lớn help them survive.
Town were Salford City's opponents for the last game Neville watched with his father before his death and it holds special memory for the former England defender.
Brighouse chairman James Howard said on the club's website: "We all at Brighouse Town FC are incredibly humbled and overwhelmed by the donation made by Gary Neville and others as this type of generosity clearly demonstrates that the Football community is not just a business but a family and more importantly an integral part of our community right here in Brighouse."
